Zamtel Kwacha is an electronic mobile money service which allows you to send and receive money and pay bills conveniently using your mobile phone. Zamtel Kwacha is a safe and easy way to always have access to your wallet on the go.
All Zamtel Prepaid and Post-paid Subscribers can access Zamtel Kwacha using either a basic handset or Smart phone.
Using Zamtel Kwacha Subscribers will be able to;
1. Transfer e-money to registered or unregistered Zamtel Subscribers.
2. Transfer e-money to Mobile users on other networks
3. Deposit and withdraw cash at any Zamtel Outlet or any authorised agent
4. Pay bills

Q: What is Zamtel Kwacha?
A: It is a mobile money service that allows Zamtel customers to be able to use their mobile phone as a wallet and conduct cash transactions such as send money, buy talk time, bill payments.
Q: How can I register for Zamtel Kwacha?
A: To have a Basic, Standard or Premium Zamtel Kwacha Wallet, the customer needs to fill in a registration form at any authorised Agent's location or Zamtel retail outlet. Customer needs to have copy of ID to submit with registration form How do I access Zamtel Kwacha from my phone?
Dial *344# and you will be presented with a USSD menu with the options available to you for Zamtel Kwacha.
Q: Do I need to have a bank account?
A: No you do not need to have a bank account to use Zamtel Kwacha.
Q: I already have a bank account. Can I access it using Zamtel Kwacha?
A: No. You are not able to access your bank account using Zamtel Kwacha.
Q: Can I top up a prepaid number of any other network using Zamtel Kwacha?
A: No. You cannot top up cross network numbers. You can only top up Zamtel prepaid numbers.
Q: Does Zamtel Kwacha work across networks?
A: Zamtel Kwacha does not work across networks. Zamtel Kwacha customers will however be able to send money to subscribers on other networks. A customer from another network will get a code which they will use to withdraw at the agent outlet
Q: Can I use Zamtel Kwacha if I don't have talk time in my number?
A: Yes. Zamtel Kwacha uses a different platform from the usual Airtime platform.
Q: Who are the Zamtel Kwacha agents and how can I access them?
A: These have been recruited countrywide and Branded "'Zamtel Kwacha Agent" for easy identification. They so far include Zamtel Retail Outlets, Investrust banking halls Investrust Agents and other identified Agents.
Q: Can I register for Zamtel Kwacha even if I am not a Zamtel customer?
A: No. You cannot register for Zamtel Kwacha if you are not a Zamtel Customer.
Q: How much money can I send or receive in a single Zamtel Kwacha transaction?
A: K10,000.00 per transaction for basic accounts,
K20,000.00 per transaction for Standard accounts,
K250,000.00 per transaction for Premium Customers
Q: What are the charges that apply for Zamtel Kwacha transactions?
A: They are in bands. A schedule of these bands is available at Agents' outlets.
Q: What do I do in case I send money to a wrong number?
A: Inform the Helpdesk by dialing 111 or 344 directly.
Q: What do I do if I conduct a transaction and do not get a transaction confirmation notification?
A: You can check your account balance to confirm if the balance has reduced, however you can inform Helpdesk on 344.
Q: Can I still use Zamtel Kwacha if there is a network outage?
A: No. The service relies on USSD which is network based. Customers are therefore advised to complete all transactions before going in areas with network outage.
Q: Do I lose my Zamtel Kwacha e- money if I lose my SIM card or my phone?
A: No. When a sim card is lost, customer should get a sim replacement. The replaced sim will have all the e-money that was initially there with the old PIN still active.
Q: What do I do if I forget my Zamtel Kwacha PIN number?
A: Inform the Helpdesk on 344. A reset PIN instruction will be passed from the Back office.
Q: Can I change my PIN number? How many changes am I allowed?
A: Yes. By going on the Change PIN option on the USSD platform under My Account (Option 6). There is no limit to the number of times one can change the PIN currently.
Q: Is there a way for me to check on the transactions that I have done on Zamtel Kwacha?
A: Under My Account (Option 6), there is a provision to check Mini statement for previous transactions.
Q: How safe is my Money?
A: All transactions and Accounts are PIN protected. Each Customer/ Agent has a unique PIN number.
Q: Is there an age restriction to register for and use Zamtel Kwacha?
A: Yes. All users must have a valid National ID or a Refugee card. 16 years is therefore the age restriction. Children may however be registered through a guardian/ parent.

Simply dial the Zamtel Kwacha short code *344#, select option 4 "Paybill", then select the service you wish to pay for, enter the account number for the service, the amount, enter pin code: xxxx and send.
Paying for Bills at Merchant Locations
Simply dial the Zamtel Kwacha short code *344#, select option 5 "Other Payments", then select option 1 "Pay by Merchant Code", enter Merchant code: xxxxxx
Dial *344#, select option 1 "send money", then Enter Mobile number (registered or unregistered). Enter amount you wish to send, enter pin code: xxxx and send
Dial *344#, select option 2 "withdraw" , then Enter the AgentID Displayed in the Agent Location, enter amount you wish to withdraw, enter pin code: xxxx and send.

Terms and Conditions
Zamtel Kwacha is Zamtel's mobile money product.
Zamtel Kwacha is available to both Zamtel prepaid and postpaid mobile customers.
Customers will access the Zamtel Kwacha product menu by dialing the short code *344#.
Customers using Zamtel Kwacha will be able to conduct cash transfers, bill payments, talk time purchase and other services.
Only Zamtel customers aged 16 years and above are eligible to use Zamtel Kwacha.
Every customer must register before they can be allowed to access Zamtel Kwacha.
Registration of customers for Zamtel Kwacha will be done through Zamtel retail outlets, Investrust bank branches and other authorised Agents.
Non-Zamtel customers cannot register their numbers on Zamtel Kwacha. However, Zamtel Kwacha registered customers will be able to send money to customers on other networks.
The Zamtel Kwacha e-money in one's account has no expiry date. However, funds in a dormant account will be remitted to Bank of Zambia after 12 months.
The customer shall not transfer or receive Zamtel Kwacha e-money beyond the set limits in line with anti-money laundering regulations.
Zamtel Kwacha transaction fees will apply as specified per transaction in line with the tables below.

All Zamtel Kwacha transaction charges will be applied on the e-money in one's account and not on the talk time that a customer has in the talk time account.

1. The 50% airtime bonus promotion is open to all Prepaid Zamtel customers with Zamtel Kwacha Mobile Money accounts.
2. The 50% Bonus is on airtime purchases of values K5 and above.
3. To qualify for the bonus, customers will have to purchase airtime using their Zamtel Kwacha account. Only purchases of airtime off the Zamtel Kwacha wallet will qualify.
4. The bonus airtime will be credited to the customer immediately after purchase.
